About the Workshop
Writing is a core skill for scientists—whether in academia, government, or industry—but it’s also one of the biggest challenges. This interactive scientific writing workshop is designed to help geoscientists overcome common writing barriers, build confidence, and rediscover writing as a creative and empowering part of their work.
Facilitated by Dr. Sandra McLaren, geologist, editor, and writing consultant from Write.Edit.Review, this full-day professional development session will blend expert guidance, hands-on activities, and peer discussions to help you strengthen your writing skills and develop strategies you can apply immediately to your own projects.
This workshop is held immediately after the Dorothy Hill Symposium (5–6 November 2025) at UQ and is open to geoscientists at all career stages, including students, researchers, and industry professionals.
